Menstrual health remains a critical yet often overlooked part of adolescent well-being in Nigeria. Many school-aged girls face limited access to sanitary products, inadequate knowledge, stigma, and poor support systems within their own schools. The Dignity Cycle Initiative (Pad A Girl Child) addresses these gaps directly, providing reusable sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene education across the six Area Councils (LGAs) of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
To make this sustainable rather than a one-time distribution, the project also builds the capacity of Gender Desk Teachers across all 208 UBEB schools in the FCT — training them as frontline advocates and support providers for girls in their own schools, through a one-day workshop of interactive lectures, group discussions, reusable-pad demonstrations, and experience sharing. This FCT campaign is one of two active Dignity Cycle Initiative sites (alongside Lesotho) that together account for the 1,000+ schoolgirls Stovix has reached through this programme.
